Call for nominations

The International Advisory Committee for the series of conferences on Hadron Spectroscopy and Structure announces announces the call for nominations for the second edition of the prize in honour of the memory of our beloved colleague Simon Eidelman (1948–2021). The aim of the prize is to support and give recognition to an early career researcher, defined as not more than 8 years experience between their PhD defense and the deadline for nominations, allowing for career breaks where appropriate. The focus is on contributions to experimental hadron physics, including theory developments that facilitate significant experimental progress, reflecting Simon’s main contributions to the field. More information can be found at  More information can be found at https://simon-eidelman-prize.web.cern.ch/

We invite nominations from all members of the hadron physics community, but do not accept self-nominations. People making nominations are encouraged to reflect on the diversity of the scientific community, and ensure good candidates are not overlooked. The nomination should include a short cover letter justifying the nomination together with the names of two referees, a copy of the candidate’s CV and a list of their main contributions to the field (including publications as well as other scientific outputs such as software packages).

Nominations should be sent to the selection committee (Eidelman-prize@cern.ch) by the deadline of 1 September 2024. The prize will be awarded at the Hadron 2025 conference (https://hadron2025.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp/), where the winner will be invited to present a plenary talk on their work. The prize winner will also receive a certificate and a financial award, which is generously sponsored by EPJ.

Any comments or questions on the process can be sent to the prize committee (Eidelman-prize@cern.ch)
